Description
The Industrial Hygiene (IH) Technician reports directly to the Senior Industrial Hygienist within the Risk Management and Safety Department. For certain responsibilities and duties on the job training is provided. The IH Technician assists the Senior IH with his primary duties which include managing and developing the following:
Additional shared duties include: assisting with exposure assessments; calibrating sampling equipment; placing sampling equipment on employees, pre- and post-calibration of pumps, recording workplace observations for IH investigations, assisting with asbestos clearance sampling, noise surveys, sample prep and shipping, delivering samples and assisting the Senior IH with training. Some programs may require the occasional use of a hammer, electric drill, and various hand tools. The confined space program requires the occasional use of a magnetic lifting device to remove and manipulate steel covers.

The IH Technician is responsible for IH record keeping which requires the use of several electronic databases.
