General Summary: The Education Programs Manager is responsible for the management and growth of various education initiatives and programs of Arts + Public Life. The candidate is responsible for administration and development of education programs, workshops, and events for the unit, including design build, acting and performance, lighting and sound design, front of house and arts administration at the Arts Incubator and the Green Line Performing Arts Center. The Education Programs Manager role will include managing youth specific programs associated with After School Matters including (i) Design Apprenticeship Program, (ii) Community Actors Program, and (iii) Teen Arts Council, along with the growth of education programs to include youth and adults in technical theater education. Administration functions will include managing relationships with internal and external programmatic partners such as After School Matters and Amplify, the UChicago Arts K-12 Arts Education Initiative, and local schools, maintenance of paperwork and contracts, budget creation and management, data collection and tracking, and reporting. This position will also assist with the creation of programming in coordination with the respective instructors of the various education programs, and other Arts + Public Life programming staff. Work closely with local public schools and institutions to recruit students to participate in APL programs. The Education Programs Manager reports to the Associate Director of Community Arts and Programs and supervises the Design Apprenticeship Program and Project Manager and other teaching artists implementing education programs.

- Program Management and Growth Development
- Manage the administration of Arts + Public Life’s education programs, including After School Matters programs.
- Recruit, hire and manage teaching artists that work with youth and adult education programs.
- Develop and implement new education initiatives in in partnership with APL and UChicago Arts leadership, including the new technical theater education program.
- Manage recruitment and onboarding for all programs.
- Provide support to programming initiatives in including the Design Apprenticeship Program, Teen Arts Council, Community Actors program, and Green Line Performing Arts Center technical education program.
- Manage relationships with University and non-University related education partners and ensure compliance with partner policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Education Partnership Development and Management
- Establish and manage local school relationships and partnerships for student recruitment into programs.
- Create and give presentations related to APL’s education initiatives.
- Conduct workshops on APL programs and initiatives involving youth programming.
- Assist management in the creation of marketing materials of APL programming by providing images for using in social media and print media.
- Serve as a member of the Arts + Public Life/UChicago Arts staff and assist with various programs and projects. This includes staffing of events, researching of best practices in arts education and management and representing Arts and Public Life/UChicago Arts on various arts-related and administrative committees both within the University and beyond, and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree combined with significant experience working with young adults in the community arts sector or 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the community arts sector required.
- Significant experience and demonstrated success working with diverse communities in partnership with a variety of stakeholders including youth, community groups, parents, volunteers, practicing artists required. Demonstrated success in project management, program planning/implementation, teaching young adults required.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
- Meet reporting requirements, manage deadlines, track participation, and work within budgets, with the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion required.
- Ability to successfully manage a workload that balances long-range planning with the unanticipated daily demands of managing multiple education programs required.
