Job Purpose: The Staff Accountant II is primarily responsible for accounting entries, reconciliation and analysis of accounts, cash management, month-end close responsibilities of medium-complexity and monthly reporting. This position will also support company and departmental projects, budget preparations and multiple annual golf tournaments.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Banking/cash-related entries and reconciliations (i.e. interest, ACH/wire transfers, check management)
  • Monthly inventory counts and variance reviews
  • Prepaid assets and expenses
  • Fixed Assets (additions, disposals, reconciliation and audits)
  • Bi-weekly payroll imports and support
  • Monthly utility entries, reporting and analysis
  • Credit card, banking and investment fees
  • Tax reporting and filing (sales and use, property, payroll, alcohol, tobacco)
  • Preparation and review of medium-sized, department P&Ls on a monthly basis
  • Account variances analysis and follow ups with internal customers
  • Develop and maintain forecasts and other metrics
  • Moderately complex reconciliations of subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
  • Maintain cash log and summarize daily bank activity
  • Train on current daily and weekly reporting and recommend new reporting opportunities
  • Other reporting as needed

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual government filings (e.g. census, surveys, property taxes)
  • Develop department-level budgets on an annual basis
  • Assists in the collection and preparation of annual audit schedules
  • Assist with non-routine and annual activities related to multiple golf tournaments
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) on assigned responsibilities
  • Review internal controls and, where necessary, assess vulnerable areas, create/update documentation and recommend change(s)

Qualifications (required unless stated otherwise): Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Analytical and problem solving skills across a wide range of activities within a golf course/hospitality company
  • Coordinate workload independently, with minimal supervision, based on pre-set priorities, month-end close responsibilities and support needs of other departments
  • Developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with members, management, employees and vendors
  • Position will exchange information in a professional manner, while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Customer service orientation to both internal and external customers
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task responsibilities with competing deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3-7 years of accounting experience preferred
  • Advanced skill set with Microsoft Office products
  • Prior experience using Oracle accounting and/or club-related systems, specifically NetSuite, will be preferred

Required License(s):

  • CPA or MBA candidate preferred
