Rural Healthcare Program
Helmsley’s Rural Healthcare Program funds innovative projects that use telemedicine and other information technologies to connect rural populations to specialty medical care, bring the latest medical therapies and equipment to patients in remote areas, provide state-of-the-art training for rural hospitals and EMS personnel, and foster incentives for healthcare personnel to train and serve in rural areas. The program awards grants in the upper Midwest states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Minnesota, Iowa, and Montana.
Position Summary
Helmsley seeks a Program Officer (PO) for its Rural Healthcare Program to develop a novel patient-focused grants portfolio intended to help those living in rural areas have better access to high quality healthcare and behavioral healthcare.The PO will have a visionary mindset, driven by foresight and an entrepreneurial spirit to find better and/or new ways to improve healthcare in remote areas, whether through technology, pilot programs, partnership-building, workforce development, or myriad of other approaches. The PO will be responsible for proposing a portfolio of grants in service of this goal, and then managing them in full partnership with our grantees. This PO will manage a portfolio of current and future grantees with an emphasis on behavioral health.
Responsibilities
The PO will assist the Program Director to develop, implement and manage a multimillion-dollar annual grants program.Some overnight travel will be required.Primary responsibilities include providing intellectual and organizational leadership in:
