Greenford Mail Centre / Home Counties North Mail Centre

Royal Mail Property and Facilities Solutions are looking for a Site Supervisor in the Home Counties area to manage our Cleaning Operatives at the Greenford Mail Centre and Home Counties North Mail Centre, ensuring we meet our cleaning service quality standards and customer expectations.

About the role

Managing around 18 members of staff across two sites (with a requirement to cover additional sites during periods of annual leave), you’ll lead and control the delivery of cleaning services on dedicated customer sites, ensuring standards are consistently maintained in accordance with the customer’s contractual specification, through building strong customer relationships, as well as looking for areas for improvement and where we can add value to our customer.

Reporting to the Soft Service Manager (SSM), you’ll assist in managing, leading, motivating and improving the performance of the Cleaning Operatives to ensure cleaning standards are achieved.

Ensuring safe working practices for the delivery of cleaning services are established and followed at all times, you’ll support the SSM in achieving Zero Harm through the effective supervision, communication and development of your team, ensuring and recording the required health and safety (H&S) training, tool box talks and messages required to carry out duties in a safe manner. As Site Supervisor, you’ll ensure that all accidents, incidents, or breaches of safety or security are recorded and reported in accordance with the defined procedures, in conjunction with a full investigation and manage any appropriate escalation to the SSM where necessary.

Creating a culture that embraces change, you’ll build customer satisfaction by communicating the benefits of any existing or new innovation in technology, cleaning methods or products to both customers and their team. You’ll support the SSM in ensuring that all weekly site inspections, reports, timesheets and requests for information are completed within the required timescales. Supporting the SSM in the delivery of the regional financial business plan, by carefully managing and developing initiatives to reduce materials and consumables costs, you’ll look to identify and drive through efficiency savings e.g. reduction in surplus hours on sites, agency, over-time, absenteeism and sickness. There may be a requirement to provide cover for the SSM when applicable (e.g. annual leave cover).

About you

Enthusiastic and seeking a position that’s both challenging and rewarding, you’ll be adept at interacting with a wide variety of people. With exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you’ll have a proven track record of managing a team of Cleaning Operatives, including managing performance by coaching, training and developing the staff to ensure they perform to their maximum potential, in a soft FM service industry. Experience in a unionised environment is beneficial.

With detailed knowledge of cleaning methods and standards, and a sound knowledge of H&S, you’ll possess the ability to build and develop relationships with key customers, while identifying ways to add value and improve customer satisfaction. A relevant qualification in Cleaning such as BICS, City & Guilds or NVQ is a distinct advantage. You’ll need to have strong IT skills e.g. Outlook, Microsoft Word, in addition to excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise workload, delegate effectively, and work autonomously.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you have a full driving licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
